Gary Back, the Managing Director of BCA Australia, is an avid sailor and adventurer. He’s been fortunate enough to have a strong wife, Brigitte, and three healthy boys. Together they accomplished our collective dream; they sailed around the world for a several years. No corner of the world was left undiscovered, except those places they didn’t get to. Brigitte lived the 24 hour day, driven by tides and the wind, schooled the children, general deckhand duties, as well as excelling as a mother and home making roles while Gary and the boys plotted their course, maintained the yacht and sailed and sailed and sailed….are we there yet? “Slithermoon”, a cutter-rigged Shearwater 39 was built in South Africa and fitted out personally by Gary and Brigitte.

They set sail from Capetown, South Africa, and several years later they arrived in Australia and now live in Noosa Heads on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

“Slithermoon” was sold and was reborn as “Ithaka” in the capable hands of Bernadette and Douglas Bernon, well known contributors of Cruising World magazine. She is now known as “Losloper” and owned by Ronel and Magnus Murphy of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
